I can't believe that I am finishing up my second year as a full-time private academic tutor. I am constantly reminded why I love teaching as a private one-on-one academic tutor/teacher. My job allows me to develop and grow as an educator. As I develop and grow, I see the results in my students and their successes. I tutor ages 2-70 across all the major subjects. It makes me smile as I review and teach concepts, all the little Ah-Ha moments I experience as I fill in the gaps in my own knowledge. It inspires me as my depth of and appreciation for knowledge and learning grows with my student's knowledge.
Although I tutor all of the major subjects, my focus is tutoring students with an emphasis in STEM education including mathematics, science, and technical education. I have taught post-secondary drafting-design and secondary mathematics. I have experience substitute teaching all grade levels. I have private tutored elementary, secondary, and post-secondary science, mathematics, and computer-aided drafting. I also have significant experience tutoring GED prep, SAT/ACT prep, Pre-K, and reading/writing/grammar fundamentals. Outside of tutoring, I am writing a series of learning books for 2-8 year old children.
My educational philosophy is, Improvise, adapt, overcome, have fun. Supporting and teaching success-based values, attitudes, responses, and problem solving to everyday challenges together. I believe that it is one thing to be smart and knowledgeable in a subject matter. It is a whole other thing to be able to teach that subject matter in a simple and understandable manner and format. Customer satisfaction is my top priority! I can't believe that I am finishing up my second year as a full-time private academic tutor. Jessica worked with both of my kids from third to eleventh grade, they both enjoyed working, and her teaching style. She's definitely worth hiring.
Jessica taught our daughter Chemistry. she's good with BASIS portfolio which is not easy. Will hire her again for sure. Jessica has a lot of insights and she even made my daughter take down valuable notes.
Jessica was able to help build my daughters confidence in a subject so quickly. She gave us great tips and we will definitely try to work with her on a more consistent basis.
I lie the way she explains the things you didn't understand in class, she explains it in simple clear English. She always make sure you have understood before starting something new. She's also fair and very flexible, I appreciate that a lot. I like her sense of humor! Will definitely keep working with her!
I liked that Jessica had good and easy to understand samples for me to follow. It made me want to do my homework and with several practice tries, I was able to answer my own questions. I got there with Jessica's instruction.
Very thorough and accommodating to our schedule. We would definitely use Jessica again!!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
All the students that I have helped prepare for the ACT/SAT have been successful in increasing their scores.
I have a Masters of Architecture where I learned AutoCAD. I used AutoCAD while working for architecture/engineering firms for six years. I taught AutoCAD for a private university.
