My 25+ year career in business was characterized by success and effectiveness in increasingly responsible positions. I have experience in a number of industries including but not limited to banking, insurance and consulting. My experience includes managerial positions and leadership roles. In 2000, I earned my MBA from Arizona State University.

Criminal Justice

My academic background, my professional work, and my tutoring include criminal justice courses and experience. As a prelaw major, I took a number of criminal justice courses from an introduction to the criminal justice system to the philosophy of incarceration to legal precedents. Professionally, I worked in the state Department of Corrections for more than 15 years. In that capacity, I provided training at the Correctional Officer Training Academy (COTA) to newly-hired correctional officers. The training covered a wide range of topics. More recently, I have tutored individuals preparing to take exams qualifying them for promotional opportunities within the criminal justice system.
Public Speaking,

Public Speaking

Public speaking is a skill - which means both bad news and good news. The bad news is that most people do not have a natural ability for this skill. In fact, most people list public speaking as their #1 fear. The good news is that because public speaking is a skill, it can be taught. You can improve. You might even learn to enjoy it. Let me use my academic background in communications, including public speaking, my extensive successful experience as a public speaker, and my demonstrated record of teaching public speaking to others to help you become an effective and comfortable public speaker.

Mastering education basics opens the doors to endless possibilities and is critical to becoming an enthusiastic lifelong learner. For the past five years, I have worked extensively with elementary school students, tutoring all subjects. My students reflect a wide range of abilities, goals and learning styles. Some students want to become better spellers; others, to understand math; and still others, to learn to read. I have worked and had success with them all. My credentials include an undergraduate teaching certification, graduate work in reading and a full SEI (structured English immersion) endorsement. My individualized approach is based on the student’s preferred learning style. So many of my students find that, for the first time, they aren’t simply trying to memorize; they actually understand. Together, we have opened doors previously closed to them.

What are the causes of deviant behavior? What are the consequences of racial and gender identity? These are but two of the myriad of questions that sociology explores and that I examined as an undergraduate minoring in sociology. In more recent years, I have taught sociology at the community college level, and continue to study sociology independently.

My academic coursework, my self-study, and my professional experience have provided me with a wealth of knowledge related to college counseling. I have completed graduate work in counseling. Given the potential importance of college to an individual's life experiences, I have spent a considerable amount of time studying the college selection process and interviewed numerous college admissions officers. I have applied the results of this self-study to guiding high school students and returning adults to making sound selections regarding college. Without exception, my students report that the college they selected, with my guidance, proved to be a great match.

The best English teacher I've had in my life.

She is the best English teacher in the world. So kind, so energetic. Well-prepared and easily understood lessons. I am a Vietnamese. I only knew a little bit of English when I came to America. I wanted to learn some English that would allow me to communicate with other people in America. I asked my son to find an English tutor for me. He found Trisha. I can say she is the best teacher I've had in my life. I had some teachers in Vietnam but one one is as good as her. She speaks clearly, slowly which make it easy for me to understand the lessons. Each lesson is well-prepared , easy to understand and useful in practical use. If anyone wants to find an English teacher, I would recommend Trisha. She gives teach you everything she knows and everything you need to know. She is the best teacher .

World Class Tutor

I asked Trisha to help me with my medical school application essay and she has down a phenomenal job. I had everything that I wanted to say in my head but I couldn't quite figure out how to express my thoughts. Thanks to Trisha's tutoring, I was able to express my ideas exactly how I wanted to. Now my essay has been transformed from sub-par and forgettable into a wonderful piece of writing. Furthermore, Trisha is very friendly and compassionate. She went beyond my expectations as a tutor by putting in extra time outside of our lessons to help me with my needs. I am very grateful for her help, and if I do get into medical school a big part of that will be thanks to Trisha.

Observant and knowledgeable

Trisha is helping Rae to slow down and think about the writing process. Rae needs this kind of structure because she likes to rush through and usually turns in a first draft as her finished product.

Flexible Tutor

Trisha is always willing to work with our children despite our changing schedules. She's encouraging and patient and really lets the student do the work.

Fabulous

Very patient, positive, and prepared. Trisha was especially helpful and flexible when we had some family issues that unexpectedly happened and she worked with us to find another time and day to meet with my daughter. Great ACT testing tips and strategies. Would highly recommend her to anyone.
