I am a master teacher, nationally certified in English. I hold a master's degree in education from Northern Arizona University and a master's degree in educational leadership. I am within a semester of being finished with my doctoral degree and am a certified reading specialist. I have taught everything from elementary school through graduate school and am a published writer. My area of expertise is at-risk students, and I believe all students are capable but that our methods need to match...

Excellent And Great Tutor

Heidi B. is a highly qualified SAT tutor. From what I saw with my daughter, Heidi helped her in all the areas she was struggling with and gave her nonstop practice with her weaker skills such as writing and reading comprehension. My daughter's time with Heidi helped dramatically increase my her reading and writing. I would highly recommend Heidi B. as an SAT English tutor for any determined student looking to improve his/her score. Again on scale of 1 to 10, she would be 10 plus.

I have worked with a number of tutors, but Heidi has completely transformed my education. I have been working with Heidi for almost a year now. She is a natural teacher, extremely patient, full of energy, and very determined. I have found a lot of tutors to be disinterested and genuinely lack the skills necessary for students to succeed. Heidi has been very committed to my education and always there for me when I needed her help. She has worked with me on many subjects and I have yet to find a subject she can't do. Many tutors will just go by the book and not adapt to the students learning style. She is easy to work with and able to evolve with her students needs .Heidi is a great tutor if you want someone who can sincerely teach, but don't want your eyes to glaze over in the process.

Teaches to student level while still challenging

Heidi is a very effective tutor, and is obviously not only fully competent in the English/writing subject matters, but also demonstrates that she actually knows how to teach to the individual! More so than nearly any teacher that my 8th grade son has ever had, Heidi took the time to get to know him, and tries to incorporate his interests in her examples. She makes sense of standardized testing, for both myself and my son, and instructs him in ways to become more successful on essential tests. She is flexible, energetic, and entertaining. The homework she gives is pertinent and helpful, and my son enjoys her visits (as much as any 8th grade boy can enjoy extracurricular schoolwork!)

Responsive - likeable - knowledgeable!

My initial request to Heidi was met with an immediate response. I was looking for a tutor for my granddaughter. We talked on the phone and in ten minutes she gave me more helpful information than I've had in 8 months of trying to navigate the college admissions process. My granddaughter called me after her first tutoring session with Heidi. It has been a long time since I've heard her so excited. Heidi gave her direction, motivation, understanding, and a great action plan. I feel like my granddaughter has a partner who is there to help her reach her potential.
