About Donna

I have several outstanding skills sets. I love to learn and help others. My enthusiasm is definitely contagious. These skills reflect my work experience and my academic background. I have an MBA in Finance and Quant studies and MA in English.

My MBA is a double major in Finance and Quantitative studies, providing me with outstanding training for a successful Wall St. career. I spent 20+ years on Wall St. programming, and managing software development projects for portfolio managers and traders...covering equities, currencies, futures and fixed income. I have extensive experience in training clients to use financial systems. I draw upon my MBA studies for tutoring in business, study skills, economics and statistics. Along with substitute teaching, I currently trade foreign currencies for my own account.

I also have a Teaching Certification in English. And, I'm qualified in virtually all WyzAnt English skill areas including reading, writing, ACT & SAT reading and writing, grammar, vocabulary, ESL, TOEFL. I enjoy tutoring in English. People judge a person in 30 seconds...how you express yourself matters!

I use lesson plans with my students. These state the student's goals and details how we're going to reach them. It produces results. I feel it is a win-win situation for my students!

Regards,
Donna

"She will provide an excellent role model for young people to emulate and will create a learning environment that promotes opportunities for her students to excel in their own academic endeavors. Donna would be an asset to any organization, and I am happy to give her my endorsement."

Sincerely,

Matthew B.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Business

Before I received my MBA in Finance and Quantitative Studies, I graduated with my MA in English and a teaching certification in English. I have taught and tutored for several years, including teaching at risk students in NYC.

While working on Wall Street, I worked on the development of portfolio and trading systems. I also trained my clients on all software that I participated in developing. That makes 18 years of training. This experience, I believe, uniquely qualifies me to to serve as a tutor with WyzAnt.

Econometrics

Because I have extensive training and practical experience in the fields of statistics and economics and and math, I definitely feel qualified to help students studying this class material. (My MBA is in Finance and Quant Studies.) Currently I work as a high school computer lab teacher where I assist students with economics, math, and beginning statistics, although my work has included hypotheses testing and probabilities of future behavior. Also, I have passed Wyzant tests in economics and statistics and Pre algebra.

The definition of Econometrics is the application of statistical and mathematical theories to economics for the purpose of testing hypotheses and forecasting future trends. You can see tutoring in Econometrics would be a very good fit.
