About Brett

An aspiring dentist, I spent the duration of my college experience indulging in the math and sciences. In an attempt to gain as much insight as possible and become well-rounded, I took more of these courses than required for graduate school admission.

This led to me learning several different ways of understanding the key fundamentals; a tool that I would use when I acquired the position of teaching assistant at Arizona State University.

Aiding in the instruction of a chemistry course, my position included helping students during class, grading papers, and leading tutor sessions (both group and individual) before and after classes.

I would tutor many friends and classmates throughout my college career as well; as they not only took notice of the success I was having (I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a 3.87 GPA), but how well I was able to articulate and explain academics.

I greatly enjoy the english arts as well; I not only experienced success in these courses in college, I scored in the 90th percentile in the subject on the Dental Admissions Test. I find joy both in education and helping others maximize their academic potential, and I believe I'd be an asset to any tutor team.

I've always enjoyed success in the mathematics; in elementary school I was in our school's accelerated program, and in college I would take algebra, trigonometry, statistics, and calculus, receiving an 'A' in all of these courses.

I received A+'s in both semesters of General Chemistry, as well as an A+ in the first semester of Organic Chemistry. (B+ in the second) As well, I have experience both teaching and tutoring chemistry (both group and private), as I had a teaching assistant position at Arizona State University. I also did research in the field of antibiotics.

I was one of 2 elementary students in 2002 (5th grade) to receive a perfect score on the AIMS writing section. I received A's in all of my english courses in college, and scored in the 90th percentile in reading on the dental admissions test.

I have always worked well with youth. My family members and friends have utilized me on many occasions to help progress the learning of their young ones. I find that I am skillful at coming up with creative ways to articulate concepts that both children and adults may be having difficulty grasping. As well, I am really just a big kid myself at heart.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Chemistry

I received A+'s in general chemistry, while graduating from ASU with a 3.9 GPA and honors. I also had the privilege of assisting in the teaching of a general chemistry course, as well as doing a year of antibiotic research, utilizing the lab procedures and mathematics of general chemistry. I led both group and individual tutor/study sessions in the class that I taught, as well as with many of my fellow students/club members. I scored in the top 90th percentile of the country in organic chemistry on the dental aptitude exam.
