About Andrew

Salve, amici!

I teach Classics and World History at a charter school in the Phoenix area. I have ten years of Latin experience and six years of Ancient Greek. My specialization during graduate school was ancient history where I read all primary source texts in their original Greek or Latin.

I do not try to sell students on any one particular method of learning. Every student is different and I encourage them all to embrace the learning method(s) that are most beneficial to them. I will work very closely with you to find out what approach to the subject matter best suits your unique style of learning. Language and history are exciting topics when presented in an accessible way, allow me to help you find a passion for learning regardless of where you currently are in your own studies.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Archaeology

I have taken archaeology classes at both the undergraduate and graduate level. I have both an B.A. and M.A. in Classical Studies were I completed many historical research projects that included extensive archaeological evidence and inclusion of data from archaeological reports.

Classics

I teach Classics at a charter school in Phoenix. My high school education was based on a Classical curriculum. I have a B.A. and an M.A. in Classical Studies.

Greek

My B.A. and M.A. were both in Classical Studies were I extensively studied the Greek language. At the University of Southern Maine I was awarded "Excellence in the study of Greek". In total, I have 6 years of formal Greek instruction; two of which are at the graduate level.

Religion

I have taught quite extensively on religion as I teach my AP World History course at the charter school where I work. Additionally, I will be teaching advanced high school a class I designed titled "World Religions and Philosophy" next year at the same charter school.

World History

My graduate work was in a Classical Studies program where I specialized. Due to the nature of my field, Classical Studies, I have had a history training that is equal to my ancient language training. During my undergraduate coursework I took many higher level history courses that focused on times and places outside of the discipline of Classical Studies. I now teach AP World History in addition to Classics (Ancient History) at a charter school in Phoenix.
