English communication is my primary area of expertise. I taught high school English, literature and journalism for several years before entering the field of advertising in Chicago, where I marketed Fortune 500 products and services as writer, producer, creative director.
When computers replaced typewriters roughly thirty years ago, I developed my expertise in desktop publishing on the Mac. With these skills I became employed by Rice University in Houston, TX, where I managed science and engineering departments, and promoted and administered their graduate programs for fifteen years. I often assisted international students with the writing and editing of their theses for MS and PhD degrees.
Over the course of three years, I vastly improved the accuracy and organization of course catalogs and quarterly schedules for five campuses of the Houston Community College System, second largest in the nation.
I currently run my own marketing business, Amaranth Productions, in Patagonia, AZ, where I am "growing local business creatively," and writing feature articles for the University of Arizona. I am the new administrator of the Patagonia website and serve on the Patagonia Area Business Association's Board of Directors as Vice President.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been desktop publishing with Apple computers, Apple and Adobe software for 30 years. I can teach you how to create professional brochures, flyers, rack cards, ads, menus, catalogs, invitations, presentations and multimedia projects to save you the cost of hiring an expensive ad agency or freelancer. I work now primarily in Apple's Pages and Keynote, both of which accommodate just about any print communication you wish to produce.
