Lessons are interactive, designed to promote critical thought processes, motivation, and confidence. Literacy behaviors are assessed in order to build instruction on strengths and identified areas of need. Specifically, lessons are built on student interest, word attack and comprehension strategies, and current skill level. Written and oral language opportunities are embedded into each lesson, as one area of literacy growth compliments the other. Spelling, phonics, grammar, and vocabulary development are all part of the literacy lesson. Instruction is intensive and engaging. I also provide support in the area of primary math, study/organizational skills, and homework.
My availability is flexible to meet your needs. Make up lessons can be set should a scheduled lesson need to be canceled. I am also flexible on meeting location which is both convenient and comfortable for you.
I look forward to hearing from you to schedule your lesson! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

The Spalding Method of handwriting instruction is the foundation from which I've supported handwriting development. Direct instruction is always a component of the literacy development block. Specific instruction is offered to each students based on their individual needs.
Phonics instruction is a very strong piece of the literacy development block. Students are supported based on their individual spelling development level, which will ensure success in their phonics mastery. Phonics learning in integrated into reading, writing, and spelling lessons in order to accelerate students' literacy level as quickly as possible.
