About Joanne

Hello - Good Tidings to All!!!!
Please allow me to introduce myself to you; My name is:
Miss Joanne!!”
It's a pleasure to meet you and to be recognized by you, a fellow music enthusiast.

Before I begin my personal narrative, please allow me to thank you for this potential opportunity to share the gift of music.

First, I am not a mechanical robot, or machine, because I teach piano. I have total regard for the privilege to be able to teach both children and adults.

“Respecting our children & their well being”: My total focus remains: there is no compromise for a child's safety and well being; Encouraging - careful thought consideration, must be implemented to present a proper / intuitive, & well balanced program, and to maintain true professionalism. The above focus holds even greater emphasis, especially throughout the application / theoretical process, when teaching an adult.

My teaching career began in February of 1979, with a practicum in piano pedagogy, highlighting the completion of my music studies at Concordia College, in Bronxville, New York. During my practicum in piano pedagogy, I received the great experience and knowledge, to teach both children and adults. The varied teaching / presentation directive, for children verses adults, though methodology order does differ, the ultimate goal is confirmation of the foundational elements of music, to be understood and implemented.

As a private music instructor/ mentor, the ability to teach both children and adults has been a positive and significant element, in my teaching journey, and enhanced my life beyond understanding.

My teaching career has taught me “Every child is special and unique, in their acceptance of knowledge”. This single recognition and concept, has guided me to regard every person, as special and unique unto themselves. Each person should be treated with particular care and direction.

The task and responsibility of reports, critiques and scheduling, of each student’s lesson and level of progress, is a great guide in organization, direction and goal achievement.

My communication with each student, verbal or otherwise, has educated me to the amazing impact of the powerful cliché “it’s not what you say, however, how you say and present it”. Even more astonishing is the daily remarkable experience of “some days I was the teacher, and some days I was the student, spotlighting the importance of another person’s needs, wants and challenges. Striving to focus, from every perspective;
In many cases, this valuable concept and message, proved to be an incredible guiding tool, and recognition of a parent’s required achievements / expectations for their child.

My career path has provided a beneficial and strengthening wisdom of reasoning, understanding, logic and purpose. I have learned to accept the positive facts as valuable information, and the negative impact to be a further guiding element, for each new experience.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to our future meeting and discussing the world of music, and the vast, potential opportunities, available through this great knowledge.

With great appreciation for all,

Miss Joanne
Private Piano/ Music Instructor

One special note for all my future "Music Enthusiasts", the difference music & learning to play piano / music, will make in your life is a true real comfort & significant positive direction in your life. A parent of a wonderful young student named "Grace", said to me, "you know, we weren't sure, what focus or change would take place for "Grace & her piano lessons", however, because of you, & your positive care & teaching, you really made a difference in "Grace's life". Thank you!!!"

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Composition (Music)

My Composition/Music Qualifications:
For the purpose & goal to be intertwined, through Private Piano Instruction:

Throughout my career as a "Private Piano Instructor", which I value with great significance, and through my own teaching initiative, I have instructed my students, with the fundamental tools for "creating/composition" of music. Given our vast world of technology, the first step in accurate implementation for composing music was presented in the "analog method" first, and then as potential progress within the student, defined their abilities and direction, and parental approval, we then moved onto technological/computer programs to further accelerate the student's knowledge and development, towards greater achievements in "music composition and theoretical" understanding.

Each student found ultimate joy and learning satisfaction and further knowledge, through their own creative abilities.

Most important, each student "wanted" to learn more, and developed into a "confident & positive" experience and growth advancement.

Thank you - Miss Joanne, Private Piano Instructor

Music Theory

Some further & positive qualifications/information re: my theory teaching abilities:

I have participated in a “Creative Keyboard Teaching Program”, and successfully completed the program with a personally formatted “piano keyboard/ensemble curriculum”.

The purpose and reason for this curriculum program is to assist and further aid the student/students, in their application of "theory, composition and performing/collaborating w/ fellow students, towards a creative and performance based achievement.

Further, as stated in my "composition qualifications", I have guided/taught students, the proper theory/composition steps, when creating/composing a piece of music.

I hope the above explanation will provide confidence & assurance of my abilities.

Piano

I am qualified to teach piano privately because I have been teaching for the past 25 years plus, and I began my teaching with a "Practicum in Piano Pedagogy" providing me with the added knowledge & beneficial experience of teaching adults, as well as teaching children.

Additionally, I have been very fortunate to experience working with students of "specially gifted needs"; In particular, I received this significant awareness in my teaching experience, while working with a child who was deaf. This taught me that together my student and I will begin on the same plateau, and take each step one at a time.
