Bio

Hello: I have spent over 25+ years teaching the lower grades of grade school. I love the younger kids as I want to 'be a kid' too and teach that all learning should be FUN! I am a creative teacher that tries to see how the student learns and provides that way of learning for them. I have taught in school systems all over the USA. Hello: I have spent over 25+ years teaching the lower grades of grade school. I love the younger kids as I want to 'be a kid' too and teach that all learning should be FUN! I am a creative teacher that tries to see how the student learns and provides that way of learning for them. I have taught in school systems all over the USA. I have been in public and parochial schools as well as started my own programs. I feel elementary education mastery is vital to success in the upper grades. If you are having a hard time with reading, and math now----this needs to be cleared up before success can happen in the later years.

I would like to help the student improve their grades and their love of learning. Practice, repetition, and relevance are keys to wanting to learn and being a success.
I could do 'classes' at my home, student's home, or a public library. I am from Page and would be willing to drive about a 25 mile radius of the town.

I have taught in the Page school district and feel, if student's could master the basics before being forced to move on, they could feel better about themselves, conquer their fears, and produce better grades. Then they could move on to their dreams for the future. All kids need to realize their talents and have a dream to fulfill. They need to believe in themselves, when they see their success---they have hope. I would like to help them to see and fulfill their potential, by conquering their 'problems' with education now! Help them 'to be all that they can be'!

I am Ms. Diane and I am an AZ. certified and qualified licensed teacher. I also have a certified license in MN and have recently been qualified and registered overseas. I have continued to attend workshops and classes over the last 25 years to remain 'up' on new techniques and ideas. I feel using all 5 senses and hands on activities where ever possible it helpful to memory and retention of the brain. (Music helps this also.)

When I taught Kindergarten, 1st,& 2nd grades we had in the daily schedule times for proper handwriting techniques. We had specific books, as well! I taught this many years and am sad to say my son's school experiences did not require this subject and his handwriting techniques are not so good. Today it is sadder, as there is too much required on the computer, and handwriting is neglected. I got to teach printing & cursive techniques. I also got to teach preschool where pre-writing techniques are incorporated.

I taught grades one and two, where lots of phonics classes are taught. I was lucky to be in an era and a school that still taught Phonics as a subject. My son did not have Phonics classes. I enjoyed teaching this subject and the children learned a lot and apply it to their life today. I wish this subject was still in the curriculum all over. I studied Phonics in college as a part of my Reading classes.

In my teaching experience, I have taught most of my years in a Christian school. I have a minor in religion. I taught various ages of religious classes at my church over 20 years. I am always seeking out & learning about various religions. I am constantly reading about various religions and have an open mind about the 'facts'. My son has helped me study the Eastern religions as well. If my college transcripts would prove helpful, I will furnish them upon request.

I have my BS degree in elementary education from a University. I also had to teach elementary social studies when I taught at a parochial school. I have been teaching various grades for over 25 years. The experience that I have had at teaching Social Studies would be in grades K-4. I taught the curriculum required by the school for Social Studies at the school where I was employed. I have traveled for many years throughout the USA to Smithsonians and other museums of history and geography. My son is an avid learner in Social Studies and I have helped him to be an 'A' student in these subjects. My husband is exceptional in politics and worldly 'news' so these are constant topics of 'talk' at our house. Social Studies involves daily news and keeping up with what our world is about. I encouraged Social Studies topics when I'd develop preschool curriculums as well.
