Arizona State University-West (Education)
My passion for teaching comes from a lifetime of loving to learn. As a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Arizona State University-West, where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary/ Special Education, I truly understand how much hard work and dedication it takes to fulfill one's goals/dreams pays off. I have had the privilege of tutoring and teaching many elementary students in several elementary schools in the Phoenix area. I have had the pleasure of helping elementary children learn to read and to raise their grades as well as to realize their own potential in learning. I love to see a child find confidence in their own potential. Tutoring us very rewarding to me.
I specialize in tutoring elementary English, which includes reading, writing and spelling. I teach kindergarten phonics and grammar skills. I also specialize in Elementary Science, Math, and History subjects. Teaching Special Education skills is another specialty I love to teach and tutor to students. I love to keep the students challenged, but not overwhelmed. I will give students work they can handle and meets grade level standards according to the Department of Education of Arizona. I assign homework on lessons after the end of each session, and provide periodic assessments and progress reports. I love to see students progress and to achieve in subjects that once gave them difficulty.
I hold myself to a high standard. I will often ask students and parents for feedback, and I never bill for a lesson in which a student or parent it not completely satisfied with my tutoring.
I try to be flexible with time. While I do have a twenty-four hour cancellation policy,I often makeup sessions that were missed.
To ensure that students have a quiet and comfortable study space in which to work with me,I have a tutoring office in my house or will have a reserved room at the public library in which to work with students. I can also work where ever the student is most comfortable.
I look forward to hearing from you and helping your children achieve success in their studies. My passion for teaching comes from a lifetime of loving to learn. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As a graduate with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Arizona State University, one of my semester classes was Phonics. I received an A in the class and really enjoyed learning how to teach young children how to read. I really love Phonics and think it is the best way to teach the love of reading to preschool and Kindergarten children.
