Hello and thank you for visiting my profile.

My two passions in life are learning and teaching. To me, there is nothing better than seeing a person's face light up as they suddenly understand a concept that once seemed impossible.

People learn at different rates and process information differently. My goal is to discover a student's unique needs, and to present the material in an informative and engaging way. I explain the theory behind key concepts and use examples to help students visualize or work out probelms. Rather than just plugging numbers into an equation or running a statistics test, I help people understand the method behind the madness!

My background:

I graduated cum laude from Arizona State University, where I tripled majored in Biology (pre-med), Psychology, and Anthropology (human origins). My love for science and learning took me to Europe where I earned a PhD in Psychology. Afterwards, I held a Postdoc and Lecturer position at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia. In addition, I earned a certificate and diploma in graphic design, and have worked as a graphic designer and illustrator. I'm proficient in Adobe CC Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Aftereffects.

As a Psychology Lecturer & Researcher, conducting stats is a fundamental part of my job. I've mentored undergraduate students with data analysis and statistics (e.g., correlation, ANOVA, Simple Linear Regression, Multiple Regression), and have experience using SPSS and R.

My favorite subjects in school were Math and Science. I have taken math up through calculus, and have taken a number of courses while earning my degrees degrees including Biology, Physics, Anatomy, and Physical Anthropology.

I highly value math and science, and genuinely want to help others succeed in these areas. I know how intimidating these subjects can be, however, with a little bit of work and guidance, it is possible to excel in both math and science.

Very knowledge and patient!

Without hesitation, I would highly recommend Shelli for any statistics tutoring needs. I have very little experience with statistics and with SPSS, and Shelli was able to clearly and patiently explain a very complex program, clearly and effectively. She was incredibly patient and kind. She not only instructed my on how to enter the data, and run a variety of analyses (such ANOVA, regression, and correlation, etc.), she also provided a rationale for doing so. Her experience was clearly evident, and her passion for statistics and teaching was obvious as well; she was a tremendous help!
