I love teaching students! I have been a music educator/performer for the past 30 years and love to see students of all ages succeed.
I have performed personally in vocal jazz groups, and played in jazz ensembles. For 30 years I have run a very successful vocal/piano studio. For 30 years, I have been the Music Chairman for my church, directing choirs,congregations and accompanying services. For 20 years I have taught in the Mesa, AZ Public School District as a Vocal Coach/Accompanist, Asst. Director. I have been on staff for 20 years with Phoenix Children's Chorus as a Music Literacy Educator/Accompanist/ Asst. Director, and have performed nationally and all over the world with this organization.
For 40 years, I have directed and played keyboards and piano in musical theatre orchestra pits.
I love teaching students of all ages and helping them achieve. I teach with high expectations but with compassion and understanding.
I was taught initially from the Royal Schools of Music and the Trinity College of Music as a youth, and completed my Bachelor's in Choral Education. 75 percent of my students are admitted into their Regional and All-state High School Honor Choirs and are successful in classical and musical theatre auditions.
I am a huge believer in an all around music education, teaching sight-reading, sight-singing, music theory, different types of literature, in both piano and voice, how to accompany and am proficient in digital and electronic keyboards....
Students are taught sight singing through the Kodaly Method and using Curwen Hand Sign signs when needed.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
As part of my curriculum in my regular vocal lessons, I use teach song associations and interval ear training exercises for ear training. I also teach how to recognize difference chords and how they are built.
As a child I took from the Royal Schools of Music and the Trinity College of Music, London England. I have played the piano for 49 years and have taught lessons for 30 years. I accompany and play professionally all over the Phoenix valley.
I teach the Kodaly Method with the Curwen Hand Signs for my sight singing. Students learn interval sequences, chromaticism, and learn through major and minor sight singing exercises.
I have taught voice lessons for 20 years and am trained in the International Phonetic Alphabet, teaching French, German, Italian and other languages. I teach different styles of literature,, i.e.. classical, musical theatre, jazz, some pop, spirituals, etc.... I also teach how to audition properly and successfully.
