My approach of tutoring children is allowing them to learn how they are most comfortable. I communicate with the student on what they want to learn and watch them as they study to learn how they will get most out of the subject. I love history because we can learn from the past. My experience has started when my children were small and has continued with my grandchildren. I try to make history alive for the children, I am a student of history myself, because I am learning from my ancestors that have founded this country. I have tutored children from different cultures in Portland, Oregon. One on one or two at a time, with a high a success rate. I have never lost a child in learning I am a positive growth person, that believes there is always away someone will learn. Sometimes you have to think out of the box, making learning fun.
I still work with children at my church, teaching in Sunday School, and one an one with a special need child. I have also trained and tutor several adults, in manufacturing of a molding press, over 650 in ten years. My experience is vast, and has always been a rewarding experience, I enjoy the learning process, as much as the student, I love seeing the light come on, and they say I get it. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
