My name is Barbara, and I'm a former elementary school teacher from Ohio. My favorite subjects to teach were math/arithmetic and the Language Arts--handwriting, spelling, English grammar, usage and punctuation. I taught students in grades 4-8, and I was certified for grades 1-8 for any subject.
If your child, in any grade, up to grade 8, is having trouble with arithmetic, I would be happy to help. My math students generally scored above average on standardized tests. Is English a challenge? I shall be happy to tutor your child in the Language Arts as well. (I am not trained to teach English as a Second Language.)
The materials I use will keep your child's interest, and your child will learn. I shall take your child from the level (s)he is to where (s)he is supposed to be or even higher with patience and consistency. I look forward to helping your child to become the best that (s)he can be. My name is Barbara, and I'm a former elementary school teacher from Ohio. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
