Jackie started our first lesson by bringing a controversial topic, which is very interesting and easily expandable topic. I had a good time in the first lesson.
Jacqueline is a very patient person! Thanks for Jacqueline's help with my essays. I really enjoyed the time with Jacqueline this morning!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Hello! Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jacqueline, but I like to be called Jackie.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Spanish, and Communication, and I have been an ESL/ESOL teacher for 16 years. For ten years I taught classes at a college in Tehran, Iran, and for the past six years I've taught English language learners for the Mesa Public Schools Adult Education Program. I can teach all aspects of English: reading, writing, speaking, and grammar.
I am a very patient person and will try every angle to get my students to understand the material they are studying. I enjoy working with people from other cultures, and I know what difficulties they are facing with learning a new language because I lived in another culture and had to learn the language. I love to teach grammar and vocabulary, but I can help in anything that has to do with the English language.
I have been dealing with grammar all my working life, both in an office setting and as an ESL teacher. I am very patient when describing grammar concepts and am skilled at using examples. All of my experience has been with adults.
I have worked with all types of documents in English. I have proofread technical documents, personal letters, essays, resumes, and business documents. I was the only native English speaker at my office in Tehran, so all correspondece went through me before being sent out to customers.
I know how important it is to be able to understand the intent of an article or story, and I am able to point out how to skim before reading for content. I know how to teach reading for inference and how to check for comprehension.
Words are so important! They are capable of creating friends or causing hard feelings. Students who speak another language and who are learning English find difficulties in understanding words and expressions used by native speakers. I love words and their meanings and get great pleasure from teaching others vocabulary.
I know the rules of essy writing, and I am anxious to share this knowledge with students who struggle with writing their thoughts and ideas on paper.
