Arizona State University (Accounting)
I enjoy teaching accounting skills. Accounting is the language of business. All business students must learn this language. However, it appears most colleges and universities are trying to teach accounting online, or with some class time, but there is very little face-to-face, interactive education being provided. That just doesn't work for most students and the results are dismal.
I am a CPA with more than 25 years experience as a chief accountant in small- to medium-sized businesses. I was still an accounting student at ASU when I accepted my first full-charge accounting role in a Phoenix-based construction company. I held that job for 6 years until the company was sold. I use Excel spreadsheets extensively in my work and teach my students to use them as well. I use QuickBooks accounting software daily and have been certified as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
I am a graduate of Arizona State University (School of Accountancy) in 1986.
I am a CPA, licensed in Arizona since 1991.
I have over 25 years of experience as an accounting manager or controller for many small businesses - mostly construction companies.
My teaching experience includes one and one-half years teaching software application skills for Versyss, Inc. This was a customer-service/product-specialist position in which I taught new users of Versyss software products how to perform all accounting functions using Versyss software applications. This included classroom and on-site instruction.
I am bilingual: English and Spanish. I lived in Colombia (South America) for 2 years as a teacher of religion. This teaching was done entirely in Spanish.
My style is patient, yet persistent - making sure basic principles are learned and reinforced by using real-life examples and constant review. I ask questions designed to help students become comfortable with what they already know; then we build on top of that base. I enjoy teaching accounting skills. Accounting is the language of business. All business students must learn this language. However, it appears most colleges and
1 hour minimum on all sessions.
Christopher definitely expanded my mind to what accounting entails. I never had accounting, I am in my first year at Arizona State, and it just was not computing. This was only one session and I will need more. My goal is to Ace my last quiz and final on December 7th. I definitely learned more about bonds and payables. Looking forward more sessions. Thank you Christopher!
Chris is a great tutor and big help. I will definitely continue to have him help me throughout this semester .
Thank you very much, Anthony. I work some long hours to help my students do well in their classes. It really feels good to be appreciated!
Chris is an amazing tutor! He responded to my e-mail right away and was able to meet with me as soon as possible. He was extremely easy to get ahold of and very easy to plan with on where to meet. He helped me study for a test that with out his help, I would have failed. With his help I was able to get a B+ on the exam ( to be clear I have never received a grade that high in any accounting/math type class). I left the session extremely happy that I now understood the material. I would recommend Chris to anyone, and am extremely happy that I met with him!
Working with Christopher was an absolute pleasure. I felt a time crunch with the project I was completing and Christopher was quick to contact me and schedule an appointment. During my session Christopher was helpful in making sure I was not only producing a project of quality work, but also that I understood what I was doing. Let's face it-Accounting can be quite confusing. Christopher took the time to make sure I understood what I was doing and explained my assignment in an easy to understand manner. I will definitely be contacting him again for further tutoring needs. Thanks Chris!
Sarah has a top-notch attitude about her studies. In this case, Sarah, like many others, chose to further her education during the summer with an online accounting class. The problem? An Accounting Principles class is about the hardest thing to learn online! My advice to every first-year accounting student is take the class live! But if you must choose an online class, find a qualified tutor. Accounting is fundamental to all of your other business classes. Accounting is "the language of business." Poor accounting knowledge will have a negative effect on every other business class you take.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified public accountant with over 25 years of business experience. I have a business/accounting degree from Arizona State University. I have successfully tutored many students through WyzAnt in the areas of accounting, QuickBooks, and Excel. It makes sense that I should also tutor business classes.
The computer is an important business tool. In my career as a CPA, I use the computer daily to run accounting software like Quickbooks, to create Excel spreadsheets, and to do research on the internet. These are the skills I am most prepared to teach.
