As a published academic author, I am very familiar with critical thinking. Writing and reading foster critical thinking and effective communication. An example of critical thinking is the quip 'Common sense is very uncommon.' What do we mean by 'common sense'? 'Common sense' describes the good ways to behave when facing challenges. For example, it is common sense to save money first then buy what we want instead of relying on credit. But how common are credit cards and mortgages? Critical thinking also allows us to disagree: some debt is good. Please let me help with your communication skills.
