Teaching is my first love in life. I began my career as a Temporary Lecturer in my undergrad engineering college, teaching one of the most challenging of subjects: Electrical Materials Science. I then worked as a Visiting Faculty member at another such college between industrial jobs, and as an Instructor at LSU, teaching undergraduate students Numerical Methods and Turbo-PASCAL, while completing my Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. After a couple of decades in the industry, I am getting back to what I love: teaching, tutoring.
I am an Electrical Engineer by training, serial entrepreneur by choice, and Technical/Mainstream Writer working to contribute to the industry and society. Yet, teaching has always been in my blood: I taught my siblings and cousins, and my classmates, in secondary school and college. Many of my prior students continue to remember the impact I've had on their learning and careers. This is perhaps the most rewarding aspect of such work.
As a tutor, I am simply returning to what I do best: teaching through problem-solving, critical thinking, active discussion, and the Socratic method.
I was honored to receive a rolling shield commemorating a FIRST in MATH in the All-India Secondary School Examination (148/150, a near perfect score) under the CBSE curriculum. I scored 2160/2400 in my Graduate Record Examination (with a perfect 800 in Math) and ~550/600 in TOEFL. Am tutoring my son for his SAT Math and English Reading/Writing preparation currently.
I've graduated with DISTINCTION in my undergraduate degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering. Defended and published my thesis on 'Self-Organizing Neural Networks in Signal and Image Representation' in my Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. I've also conceived and implemented numerous inventions throughout my career, gaining title to more than 40 US and International Patents.
Additionally, I've co-authored and edited TWO engineering books advancing an emerging area of integrated circuit design, in 2010 and 2014. A
Raj has provided examples of their subject expertise by answering 4 questions submitted by students on Wyzant’s Ask an Expert.
We are very happy with Raj and his tutoring techniques. My daughter has learned a lot from him on honors geometry. She was struggling but Raj has made many of the concepts easy to understand. So thankful to have found him!Saira, 15 lessons with Raj
Great first lesson on signals and systems!
Raj helped go over difficult concepts in detail! He helped sort out important and fundamental concepts. He is very open about learning! Great session.Ashley, 1 lesson with Raj
Master knowledge in Circuit and pleasant tutor
Raj is a very good tutor. He explained the circuit concepts and taught my son to solve the home work problems in an efficient way. I would recommend Raj to any students who need helps on electrical circuits. Thank Raj.Trung, 1 lesson with Raj
There were many seemingly capable tutors we found in our initial search, but Raj was the perfect combination of background/expertise and availability. From first contact to scheduling of initial session was less than 20 minutes, with a lesson scheduled just a couple of hours in the future. A life saver!Jeffrey, 1 lesson with Raj
Knows his stuff
Raj is a very good tutor. Despite a couple of minor connection issues Raj was able to clearly explain and walkthrough several circuit problems while helping me better understand how the different pieces of the problem connected. At one point Raj was able to shorten a complex Thevenin resistance problem that would have taken another page of work down to one (very short) line of multiplication and division.Hunter, 5 lessons with Raj
Fantastic tutor for both theory AND problem solving
Raj is a fantastic tutor for both theory AND problem solving, and even better, he combines the two so you actually understand what you're doing and why when solving problems. He is very patient and fun to work with.Jake, 24 lessons with Raj
Raj went over logic, asynchronous, and synchronous circuits with me for just a few hours on a Sunday, and I was amazed at how much greater understanding I had upon our session ending. Raj is very skilled at explaining difficult material in a simple way and helping it to "stick" in the student's mind. In addition, he was also very personable and made the session almost feel like you were having a conversation with a friend. Will, 4 lessons with Raj
Circuits has been one of the major difficult subjects for my daughter. Glad that I was able to reach out to Raj who has taught the fundamentals well. This foundation will certainly has helped my daughter to solve complex problems. Thanks Raj!Anantha, 22 lessons with Raj
Raj asked about what I wanted to learn before our session. He had done his homework and was prepared to teach. He helped clear up a lot of questions that I had. . Great tutor!Jeffrey, 1 lesson with Raj
Patient and Very Knowledgeable!
Raj took the time to teach me the fundamentals needed to succeed in circuits. He is very knowledgeable and patient, he makes sure you understand the work before moving on. He showed up with some extra material that really helped break down the problems I was having. I highly recommend Raj to anyone taking Electrical Engineering courses!Eddie , 3 lessons with Raj
