Hello! My name is Kristie and I am a passionate teacher and lover of all thing learning. After I graduated from Arizona State University, I got a job as a preschool assistant. I grew to truly love teaching children and watching them grow and learn. I decided to return to school to obtain my masters degree in early childhood education and Arizona teaching certification.
I have taught both preschool and kindergarten and I have tutored and provided homework help to students ages 5 to 12. I love helping students realize their true potential and I enjoy helping them through the struggles and triumphs that come along with learning. My goal is to help all students retain knowledge and strive to become a life long learner, like myself!
Teaching kindergarten and preschool gave me exceptional knowledge in teaching reading because at a young age, students are just learning how to read. Having the knowledge and experience of teaching young children how to read has enabled me to help children of all ages that struggle with reading.
I have taught a classroom of young students how to write in complete sentences and how to properly hold a pencil. Many students in my classroom had never held a pencil when they started and they were writing champs at the end of the year!
I taught a rigorous, challenging and rewarding phonics program to my kindergarten students. I am qualified to help students with letter sounds, letter formation, letter recognition, combining sounds to say/write words, etc. Teaching phonics is one of my true passions!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions! I look forward to hearing from you and learning more about how I can help your student succeed and prosper in school! Hello! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have taught both preschool and kindergarten and I have taught young students how to properly write (letter formation, proper holding of a pencil, etc.). Through student teaching and becoming certified, I have obtained the knowledge and skills how to help children learn how to write and also improve their handwriting. I have helped older students improve their handwriting and writing skills by perfecting their hold on the pencil.
In my kindergarten classroom, I taught a very rigorous and enriching phonics curriculum. I also came into teaching with phonics knowledge from my masters program and through student teaching. Phonics is one of my passions in teaching because it paves the way for students to be successful readers.
