About Brenda

I am a recent graduate of Arizona State University. I completed my Master's in Mechanical Engineering last May (2016), and I completed my Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering in 2015. I have just completed all the coursework for my Master's in Business Analytics at the University of Surrey, and expect to graduate in April. As a Mechanical Engineering student, I was required to take three levels of Calculus, as well as University Physics. I also was required to complete a myriad of course such as thermodynamics that required extensive math skills. At both ASU and the University of Surrey I implemented MatLab throughout my coursework. Additionally, at ASU I was required to utilize SolidWorks, and at the University of Surrey I learned R.

While I was gaining my degrees, I worked as a math, physics, and engineering tutor at the Polytechnic campus for ASU. As such, I would frequently help students with their homework, study for tests, and gain an understanding of concepts for their classes. While in England, I taught various students studying for their GCSE (the equivalent of a GED), and their A-levels (their University entrance exams).

One thing that I love about tutoring is the one-on-one interactions I am able to have with people. When teaching in a large class setting, it is difficult to see if students are actually comprehending the material being covered, or if they are struggling. With one-on-one settings, I am able to better ascertain the needs of an individual, and we can work through a concept as many times as needed.

Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Calculus, Differential Equations, Pre-Calculus, University Physics 1, College Physics , Trig, MatLab

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Differential Equations

I took differential equations at Arizona State University and received an A in the class. Since then, I have tutored it to other students at Arizona State University. I was also able to help them use MatLab to solve their diffy q homework.

MATLAB

I used MatLab frequently as an engineering student. Not only did I have to take a class to learn how to use it, but many of my classes such as differential equations and heat transfer required it. I also created many codes just for my graduate individual applied project.

Mechanical Engineering

I just received my masters in Mechanical engineering at ASU. I also have a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. I have spent the last 3 years as an engineering tutor at ASU.

Solidworks

I had the opportunity to utilize SolidWorks frequently as an engineering student. I used it many times in my project classes to model our project. I took an optional class to learn all of the basics. I also have used it to do some FEA and fluid analysis.

Great instruction :)

Brenda helped me a lot with solving different types of integrals and explaining all the steps as we went through them.
