About Chris

Greetings! A long time ago in a state not so far away I attended the University of Colorado and got my undergraduate degree in MCD Biology (Molecular, Cellular and Developmental). After graduating in 2010, I decided to pursue my life long passion for teaching and came down to Arizona State University to get my Masters in Education and teaching certification. Immediately after graduating from ASU I got a job working at a High School teaching chemistry, and I have been there for the last four years, teaching Chemistry, AP Chemistry, Physics and a general STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) class. I will be returning to ASU in the fall of 2015 to pursue a Masters degree in Biophysics.

Along with a life long passion for all things science, I also have two beautiful children. I love the outdoors, especially hiking, fishing and camping (probably because I grew up in Colorado). As the keen observer might have noticed from the start of this bio, I have an undying love for most things considered "Nerdy" (Star Wars, Comics, Ninja Turtles, etc.). More than anything else though, I love learning new things, and while science takes the cake in this category, I will sink my teeth into any new knowledge that comes my way, which s probably why I enjoy reading so much as well.

Science and teaching have been life long passions of mine, and I enjoy few things more than being able to sit down and talk science with students. I believe that teaching is something best down with charisma, energy and humor, because if you're not excited about the subject, how can the student be excited? I also believe that I bring a depth of knowledge in many science fields which allows me to not only teach students the material, but understand where they struggle and correct misconceptions at a fundamental level. At the end of the day, I love science, and I want to passion on that passion, appreciation and knowledge. Thank you for your time and consideration

Well I hope you'll choose me to help you in your quest for more science knowledge, if you have any further questions, texting me is probably the quickest way to get a hold of me, and if you're on the edge, consider the words of the great Emperor Palpatine "Do it! Give in to your feelings!"

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Personable, helpful, and patient - and he knows his stuff

My daughter needed some additional help in understanding some of her Chemistry assignments, and in about an hour Chris very patiently and, to be honest, somewhat entertainingly, guided her through the concepts she understood up through her current work. She later said that one hour with Chris improved her confidence in the subject immeasurably. Highly recommended!
