"The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see."
As a dedicated teacher and life-long learner, I fully understand that each child is unique! The beauty of being a teacher is that I am given the opportunity to come alongside each child as they reach their individual goals and potential. I have a passion for tutoring K-6th grade; I believe that these are crucial years for developing a love for learning as well as shaping attitudes and abilities. I have taught kindergarten for the past 3 years, and prior to that, taught a variety of subjects at multiple co-ops. I have experience teaching in a lecture style classroom as well as individualized learning method.
I will do everything I can to ensure the academic success of your child. My tutoring sessions will be held in a calm, quiet environment (public library, etc.). In order to ensure maximum learning, I make sure all students are not only challenged, but also encouraged and praised, along the way. It has been said, by many a parent, that what helped their child learn best was my ability to break down lessons and concepts, and my willingness to look at different methods of teaching. I believe that every child can learn, and the key is finding out how they learn best and being able to change my teaching style to fit their needs.
I look forward to hearing from you! "The best teachers are those who show you where to look, but don't tell you what to see."

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have taught kindergarten for the past 3 years. Prior to that, I taught students of all ages in the subjects of Latin, Public Speaking and Children's Literature.
One of the methods I have found most successful, is having the student teach me. This way guarantees the subject mastery as well as being very enjoyable.
Understanding Phonics is the key to understanding our English language. As a kindergarten teacher, I have taught using the Spalding method as well as sight words, etc. I use a lot of games and interactive learning to ensure mastery.
I have taught Public Speaking for the past 6 years. Many students are terrified of speaking in front of an audience. In order to ensure confidence, students will be given instructions on how to strengthen their abilities (i.e. how to stand, voice inflection, facial expressions etc.)
I enjoy breaking down and building words. Spelling is the basis on which we build our understanding of the English language. Words are absolutely fascinating and I love helping my students understand and build their knowledge base.
In order to be academically successful, a student must know how to study. Throughout my six years of teaching, I have helped numerous students improve their studying skills. With my kindergarten students, we did daily review as well as flash cards, songs, and poems to help reinforce subjects learned. With my older students, I have often paired them up to study, had them explain a challenging concept back to me to ensure mastery, or reversed our academic roles so that they were verbally teaching and reviewing.
