About Armita

As a recent college graduate, I am currently taking time off prior to attending dental school. Throughout college at the University of Michigan, I majored in neuroscience and minored in music. I thoroughly enjoyed volunteering throughout the Ann Arbor, MI community, tutoring children in middle school, along with children in Detroit, MI. These were truly challenging, yet very fulfilling experiences. In regards to college students, I assisted students in courses I had previously taken in, and felt extremely comfortable in. Some students were athletes, while others were international students, with english as a foreign language.

Since my graduation, I have committed myself to tutoring. I work with students ranging in age from five to nineteen. With children not in high school, I focus on the following goals: determining current study habits, developing a variety of tools and methods to reach the students’ goals, laying a foundation for consistent development of such goals, and expanding to get ahead of of future topics. Regarding high school students, I predominantly focus on the ACT subjects. I have developed extensive techniques and resources to increase ACT scores well into the high 30s. I am proactive to analyzing specifically what types of questions and areas require focus, and I provide numerous styles of taking the test to allow each a student the ability to understand from different perspectives. Lastly, I have also been involved in essay writing, providing necessary insights, and I am very willing to read any literature necessary to succeed at an assignment.

Straying away from the academics, I am truly passionate about music. I have been playing the piano since I was five years old. I currently have reached level 8 of the Royal Conservatory. I mainly enjoy composing my own music, but I also appreciate the classical music pieces! As of right now, I am only interested in piano students with no to very little experience, as that learning process excites me very much.

In my free time, I try to keep as busy as possible! I am taking a couple science courses, running, kickboxing, cycling, reading, and spending time with my family. :)

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
