Arizona State University (Civil Engineering)
Arizona State University (Graduate Coursework)
I have a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Arizona State University, graduating in December 1999, with an emphasis in structural engineering. I started graduate school at ASU but never finished. A majority of my professional engineering career has been in the water resources field. I have 15 years of civil engineering experience so I can offer real world advice for those close to graduating. I work here in Flagstaff at a private consulting civil engineering firm and have been professionally licensed as a civil engineer since 2005.
I offer my tutoring services to classes to undergraduate students at the college/university level in math and physics (which I enjoyed...only math and physics classes that I've taken of course) as well as civil engineering classes, in particular structural and water resource classes. My approach to tutoring includes emphasis on the approach to problem solving, including but not limited to...free body diagrams, understanding your knowns and unknowns, referencing material, etc. I will also offer my approach to studying for exams or conducting projects. Feel free to contact me to schedule a tutoring session. I'm usually available Friday afternoons, weekends, weekdays after 6 pm. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering earned from Arizona State University. I also have a diverse background in real world civil engineering projects. I love teaching and have made engineering presentations to groups of people in the past.
