I have had several careers, from fitting contact lenses to medically indicated patients, to leading quality teams for a major HMO, and then law practice, family law, civil rights law, I am especially well versed on the ADA stuff or can refer you to informative sites. I passed the California bar at 48, and the Arizona bar at 50. I taught home bound kids while studying Arizona law and enjoyed teaching kids so much I almost did not sit for the Arizona Bar. I prefer to work online but can do visits if they are not too far away. I think that you can get a lot done online. I practiced family law primarily but understand the fundamentals of most areas of the law. Law is challenging in today's courtroom and I tried to talk my clients into mediation, which is also something I am well versed in when children are involved. I have worked with state and federal agencies.
I use problem solving techniques from quality team teaching to find where problems lie. I have done civil rights issues and definitely have an opinion which you are free to disagree with about the state of our legal system and common sense ways to deal with issues. I believe mutual respect is warranted and I try to be available when students need my help. I could tutor in many areas such as English and history; just give me a bit of forewarning. I have a lot of experience with ADHD, and ADD issues in particular. I like students of any age and I believe that each student learns differently but anyone can learn if they set their mind to the task. The key is to find the modality that works best for that student. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
