In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have an MFA in Film and Animation, and have held numerous videography, cinematography, video/film production teaching, and equipment maintenance positions at RIT and in the Film industry. I directed and shot the content on my website, and have been working in the cinema/video industry since 2004. I have served as a University/Graduate level instructor and teacher's aide in numerous video and animation production courses.
I currently work as a Specialist at an Apple Retail location in DE. I am trained (and this training is updated, continuous, and ongoing) in the full features and functionality of all the hardware for which Apple is a retailer (which includes all Apple devices - Macintosh, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Airport, Time Capsule, Apple TV, and numerous ancillary devices and services, as well as the full scope and service for iCloud services.) I am also trained regularly on the software (iOS and OS X Mountain Lion/Mavericks). I also am thoroughly trained (by Apple and my MFA program at RIT which used the Mac platform for film production) in FinalCut Pro, Logic, iMovie, iPhoto, Pages, Keynote, Garage Band, Numbers, and Apeture. I assist Apple owners on a daily basis with Apple ID configuration, Computer setup, troubleshooting, and deployment, iPhone service and upgrades as part of my daily role, and am held to the highest standards in all this as a representative of Apple Inc.
I have an MFA in film and Animation. I took four Maya-Based animation courses, and was TA in one grad level Maya course at RIT. I also was a LAB aide in the Graduate Animation Lab at RIT.
I have been working with AutoDesk (then Alias/Wavefront) Maya since 2004. I am good with rendering, texturing, modeling, rigging, IK-FK, and lighting. I also can help with camera animation within Maya, can help a student understand the subtle ins and outs of Maya's node-based system, and can help install Maya on both PC and MAC platforms. I have experience troubleshooting Maya multiple site-license network issues as well.
I have been a professional photographer sine 1997. I have taught workshops in photography. For six years I was a retail photofinishing manager at Fast 1-Hr Foto, where I mastered color correction in C-41 color processing (via Kodak's Certification program) and eventually took numerous classes in D-76 black and white photography. I staged my own darkroom facility during my early professional years. I am currently a practicing cinematographer, and can speak to the sometimes subtle differences between still photographic mechanics and those of the motion picture camera, and can impart an understanding of the underlying physics of film and CCD imaging as needed to facilitate better student understanding.
