I was a teacher for fifteen years, teaching English in K-8, Middle School of 7-8 and also High School in both AZ and OH. I taught grammar, literature, spelling and many years of writing. I have tutored students before from elementary through high school so have experience with all ages. I also have published several greeting cards and write on a daily basis.
I love tutoring as it is a chance to work with and see the growth of a student as they learn, the light bulb goes on and stays on as they continue to build upon their knowledge. I feel I am creative and patient, knowing that each child/student learns in his/her own way. I like the opportunity to see a student start with a goal in mind and to be able to reach that goal and possibly move beyond it. A smile means everything!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
