About Noel

I have taught for many years. I did some substituting at a small public school, before moving overseas to teach ESL in grades 2-11. After three years, I moved on to be an assistant professor at a university, teaching students majoring in philology, either as teachers or translators. After moving back to the United States, I taught Language Arts, music and art at a small private school. I have always tutored in addition to my work in the classroom. I appreciate the one-on-one instruction that allows me to seek the best methods for an individual student, and I also feel tutoring permits the student to direct his own education. The classroom is sometimes like a conveyor belt requiring forced production, while tutoring gives the opportunity for inspiration and truly making knowledge a part of the student's experience.

I spent many years in Russia, and I learned the subtexts and undernotes of the Russian language in a way that most Russian students do not have an opportunity to do. I also fully appreciate the difficulties of learning Russian, but I love Russia, and Russian culture, and I feel that the language must be learned through the culture to have any meaning.

I look forward to new students, and to creating conversations that will help you to think and to communicate clearly and successfully, both in the spoken and written word.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Noel works with Yuto one on one with great endeavor

I would highly recommend her for private lessons. Noel coordinates her teaching with Yutos' assignments and tests. For students with little or no conversational skills she is excellent.
