I have 5+ years of tutoring experience in mathematics and I firmly believe that an inspired and energetic teacher is the difference between students saying "I can't do math", "I hate math" or "I'm not a math person" and acing their classes and having career options in STEM fields. At the time of writing, I am 3 months away from graduation from the University of Washington with a B.A in Mathematics. I have a 3.5 GPA and a proven track record of tackling one difficult math class after the other. In one quarter during my freshman year, I took 3 math classes simultaneously and received A’s in all of them.

What I love most about teaching is the opportunity to share my own passion for mathematics and overall intellectual engagement. I view mathematics as the foundation of the STEM fields and a pure basis for rational thought, and I think all students are missing out if they don't have a positive and rich mathematical experience of some kind. I also believe it is never too early or too late to learn anything in math, and am open minded in terms of who I teach. I want motivated students who have a desire to move toward excellence and passion.

I graduated college in 3 years, taking courses in single and multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, Number Theory, Probability, Linear Optimization, and differential equations. I have a broad and deep understanding of mathematical thinking and how it applies to our world, and am proficient in Java and Python as well. I am currently taking courses to further my computer programming abilities. I am an ideal tutor because I meet students wherever they are at and try to send them where they want to go with their mathematical goals. I am a constant cheerleader of anyone pursuing stem education from any background and I believe there are no dumb questions. I look forward to working with you.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

Deep understanding of proofs, logic, and how to develop an understanding of mathematical sets, functions, and algorithms. Have tutored middle and high school level algebra extensively and am familiar with most curriculums.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

Deep understanding of expressions, functions, operations, and basic mathematical statements. Exponents, radicals, sums, functions, and graphs
Calculus,

Calculus

Single variable and multi variable calculus. Strong understanding of differentiation and integration from a theoretical and applied perspective. Can help with basic calculus classes and familiar with most curricula.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus is the study of single variable functions. These functions are those that are differentiated and integrated in calculus, and a deep understanding of them in precalculus can make calculus infinitely easier and more enjoyable. These functions include linear, exponential, trigonometric, polynomial, and parametric. Graphical representation and geometric arguments (specifically with trigonometry) are essential to this subject. I had an amazing teacher in this subject and I have been helping others understand it ever since I learned it myself.

Thanks for the feedback, that's awesome. Keep up the great work and I look forward to working together any time.

professional and dedicated

My son has worked with Abraham a number of times in his struggles with abstract algebra. My son comes away from each session with an improved clarity and understanding. We will continue to utilize Abraham as a resource.

Patient and Motivational

Abraham gave me rules of thumb to remember to make these difficult to understand concepts much easier. He does a good job of showing you how to do it, and then making you try it for yourself. If/when I ever need a Calculus Tutor again, Abraham is where I’m headed.

Patient & knowledgeable tutor

Explained concepts clearly & patiently. Helped my son work through his homework by encouraging and clarifying the things he was unclear on, but giving him the confidence to do it on his own.
