I have been and still am a high school Mathematics teacher for 17 years. I have a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Mathematics from ASU. During my masters program at ASU, I was part of Project Pathways which is currently being implemented in Scottsdale schools through ASU. I teach or have taught Pr-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Precalculus, Geometry, Brief Calculus, and AIMS math. During the summer for the last 14 years, I have worked with students during summer school needed credit recovery and night school for 6 years. I have and am still a Part Time Mathematics Professor at Mesa Community College for 5 years. I teach Intermediate Algebra, Trigonometry, College Algebra, Brief Calculus, and Math Analysis. I have also tutored off and on for 4 years. I am currently working with a student from ASU who is taking Technical Calculus I. I work with students on their homework, teach them conceptual lessons that are directly related to the lesson they are working on at that time, and/or give them lessons on prior concepts that may be necessary to let the student be successful for that lesson and future lessons. For the last 5 years, I have taught between 5 and 7 different subject areas and thus I am very flexible and knowledgeable about many different levels of mathematics from Pre-Algebra all the way up to Calculus.

My daughter had possibly the worst calculus teacher at her high school. We had to hire a tutor Mike helped her through the entire year ensuring her grade was high enough to keep the university scholarship she was offered. When a situation came up at school Mike did extra research to ensure success.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
