My name is Cindy and my educational background includes a master of science in computer information systems. I have an extensive background in computer programming, fitness, and helping people in tutoring including special needs and hearing impaired. I tutored during my college days as a math tutor for college students with special needs (hearing impaired, ADD, and dyslexia). I also have worked with elementary school kids teaching hands-only CPR and water safety. My mom was an elementary school art teacher, and I helped her with the students. I enjoy helping people and believe in using different teaching methods as everyone learns differently. I'm also a patient tutor and don't mind going over lessons multiple times.

Good teacher, very patient and has a great sense of humor. Well informed in the ways of the hard of hearing and deaf community.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems from Florida Atlantic University and a Master's in Management Info Systems. I have also been recently certified in Computer software & hardware (A+ and Network+) certification. I have done programming in many applications including Excel, Mentor Graphics, AMPLE, C++ and more. I have done computer tutoring in the past for college students & adults.
I have taken classes up to Calculus and have tutored students in college and elementary school. I am interested in tutoring in elementary school math as I know how it can be difficult for some kids & I would love to make them feel better about doing their math homework. I also am patient and flexible with incorporating different teaching methods.
I am hearing impaired and speak orally, but know some sign language. I have worked with other hearing impaired people as well and understand the needs of the deaf and hearing impaired.
I recently became Comptia Network+ certified 2 weeks ago. This is about setting up networks, troubleshooting and knowing how all the hardware components, cables and wireless access points combine to create a computer network. I also have taken computer networking classes in college and set up my own home networks.
I am hearing impaired and know sign language. I have used it for communicating with my hearing impaired friends as well as for the signing relay service. I have also taken classes in it in college for credit as well as community schools. I am also teaching hearing impaired students at the Alexander Graham Bell Convention in AZ in June 2012.
I have a bachelors and masters in computers and have great study skills. I am disciplined in online as well as real classroom settings.
Study skills can be having the student take notes or highlight the text as they read. Then at the end of the chapter a student should do the quizzes and ask questions if they have any. If the material is still from resources given to student with the class, I can show the student where to find info on the Web or other classroom material that may have been given with the class.
Reinforcement is important for study skills. You need to read and review material many times. Sometimes you need to approach the material using different learning styles and find which method is better for the student.
Studying for tests are extremely important and many people take tests differently. Learning how to read the questions are important. Key words also sometimes give away what they are looking for.
I have tutored before & worked with elementary school kids as well & know everyone learns differently so I am flexible with learning styles.
I was on the track and field team in high school, but am still a runner. I know about all the stretches and drills and the lap exercises. I recently trained with a friend who is trying to get into the police academy and I helped him to build up his running. I am great in other sports as well, not just running.
