Hi! My name is Meegan and I want to help you succeed in school! I recently moved to Prescott from Tempe where I worked in the Kyrene School District as a Reading Specialist. As a Reading Specialist, I worked with small group of students in grades K-5 who struggled with reading. I assessed, diagnosed and planned lessons for the students that fit their individual needs. I saw a total of 52 students a day! Along with planning daily lessons, I also assessed the students on a weekly basis to ensure that they were making progress. And if not, I would change my approach until they were successful. I loved my job more than anything!! I have also taught traditional 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and a multi-age group of 1st-3rd graders. I feel like teaching is what I was meant to do!
I am a Certified Teacher in Early Childhood Education with a Masters in Reading Instruction and have a background clearance card issued from the state. Along with teaching I am also a mother of 2 wonderful children. They are the light of my life and the reason why I chose to stop working full time. Tutoring gives me the flexibility to still help those who are struggling in school, while also being a mom. Thanks for taking the time to "meet me"! I am looking forward to helping you or your loved ones become life-long learners! Hi! My name is Meegan and I want to help you succeed in school! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My computer skills were acquired from a variety of experiences. I have always loved technology and used it in as many settings as possible. While pursuing my bachelor's degree in elementary education, I decided to also take more technology courses and minor in technology. More recently, I worked in Tempe in the Kyrene School District where I was Technology Supervisor at my school's site. I was in charge of teaching lessons to the staff on new computer software, work individually with teachers to help them use technology as a tool to teach students, work with students in small groups on a certain project and lastly fix any technology equipment that was broken to the best of my ability. I see technology as a valuable tool that can help you in so many ways, once you understand how to use it. I would love to be able to help you learn technology better and feel confident in several different tasks. Thanks!
