I have professional software development experience of many years building mobile and web applications for diverse industry domains including the backend of a trading platform, a suite of products that provides financial data management, and supply chain in aviation. I received my Masters degree in Comp Science from Arizona State University. I have mentored several jr devs during my career, teaching them best practices associated with design, testing and implementation of complex software systems. I enjoy teaching Data Structures and Algorithms. I also have almost two decades of academic and professional experience working with many programming languages- Java, Python, C, C++, Javascript, SQL and many frameworks including Spring Boot, React.

Over the past two years, I was dealing with health issues that prevented me from working full time. During the last few months, as my health started improving, I started helping out students (high school as well as college level) in my community with programming projects when I was able. It has been a really rewarding experience to share my knowledge with students interested in grasping the underlying principles behind concepts such as Heaps, Trees, Graphs, Recursion, Dynamic Programming, which can be confusing for beginners.

I think the best way to learn is by doing. I like to explain concepts in small pieces, and first let the students pitch ideas and code, providing guidance as needed or when they get stuck. I also try to teach the tools necessary for debugging and troubleshooting when things go wrong, so that students gain the confidence to identify and fix errors in their own code.

With beginner programmers, I try to make programming engaging by coding puzzle-like problems and simple games.

But in the end, each of us is unique and have our own way to conceptualize new ideas, which is why I welcome feedback from students about their preferred learning style.
