In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My son was diagnosed with ADHD in second grade. I went back to school to get a M. Ed. in special education so I could help him. While working on the degree, I always did my papers on some aspect of ADHD any time we had to do research papers. I was able to help my son to be successful. I finished my M. Ed. in 2000 and my son has since finished school and gone to college. I have since tutored many students with ADHD in reading, math, spelling and writing.
