I have been a teacher most of my life. I have worked with students of all ages, in many subjects, in countries around the world. I'm very versatile. My priority is to help you learn what you want to learn, and to help you achieve your goals. Learning doesn't have to be hard. You don't have to worry about being uncomfortable or asking a dumb question or not "getting it." Good teaching means good results, and I've been getting good results my entire teaching career. Remember, it's about you, not me. You set your goals; I'll help you reach them. I've worked with many students one-on-one, and we both seem to benefit!!
The youngest I have taught is about eight years old. That was for an alternative school for young children struggling to make it in regular classes. They were a challenge, but they were also kids who really wanted to succeed but often struggled with very difficult home lives. I've also taught at the high school level, community college level, and university level. In China, I was an author and editor of ELL books and host of a television show. I've had other jobs, but teaching seems to be my gift. It never gets old. My high school certificate has expired (too expensive to maintain when I quit working full-time) but my brain hasn't, so I'm the same teacher I was. I'm also certified at the community college level in English, ESL, General Business and Office Automations. I have been a teacher most of my life. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
