I get great satisfaction helping enable individuals of any level grasp required concepts and succeed using database technologies to reach and achieve their goals.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I am experienced understanding the special needs of individuals with ADD/ADHD and the complication to their life 24X7. Two of my own children have different degrees of ADD/ADHD so I’ve not just dealt with the struggles of individuals relative to education and the classroom, but with the impact of that environment on individuals outside of school.
I’m not a certified elementary education teacher. I am a degreed professional (MBA in Finance and Accounting) and (BS in Computer Science) with tutoring, consulting, corporate training and math skills sufficient for elementary education. My special needs training skills have been learned through health care professionals, special needs teaching professionals and by the seat of the pants with my own children.
My children are grown now, healthy, happy and productive in their own ways. I think my personal experiences and professional skills, knowledge and experiences qualifies to help ADD/ADHD individuals struggling with elementary math. I’m patient, understanding and I’ll work very hard to establish trust and student self-esteem.

Elementary Math

I'm certified in elementary math and a financial operations and controls consultant by trade. My strengths and skills are problem solving and mentoring. I enjoy helping people, especially children, feel accomplished and proud about subject matter and confident in themselves to handle materials and assignments with appropriate concepts and planning.

I look forward to meeting and working with you and your children/grandchildren.

Microsoft Access

I taught Microsoft Access in a classroom environment at Springhouse Education and Consulting Services in Exton, PA and professionally developed large custom business applications using Microsoft Access as the backend database and reporting engine as well as complete standalone Microsoft Access applications using the Microsoft Access user interface facilities and dashboards, database and reporting. In all cases I did the design, development, testing, delivery and support. Brief summaries of my most interesting MS Access work follows.
ASP.Net website for Paradise Farm Camps, a Downingtown, PA Environmental Education and child development facility. Application records, tracks and reports organizational strategy, goals and aspirations. Environment: .Net and Access environment. It was used by the board of directors to create their long and short range planning while tracking progress against their goals.
• ASP.Net website for INCON, West Chester, PA based driver surveillance risk management group. .Net and Access environment.
• Designed, developed and delivered a custom multi-user time management and reporting system. System used Excel interface, Active-X, VBA, and Access to centralize and standardize time management and reporting functions for a national association management organization (Associated General Contractors of America).
• Excel/VBA, Access Environment. Automated Tax Reconciliation System for Federal and State Taxes related to retirement administration at Morgan Stanley. Define and implement ongoing system and reporting enhancements for automated tax reconciliation and reporting.

Microsoft Excel

I have used Excel extensively in my day to day duties in program and project management, System and User Acceptance Testing and Application Development. I’m an expert user. Some of my finer work is highlighted below.

Designed, developed and delivered custom enhancements for a multi-user time management and reporting system. System used an Excel interface, Active-X, VBA, Access and Crystal Reports for standardized time management and reporting functions for AGC of America, a construction lobbying group in Arlington, VA.

Designed, developed, implemented a daily cash and share reconciliation system with multi-user Excel interface for Morgan Stanley’s 401(k) Retirement Services. System compared daily cash and share positions between Omni Plan, M&I Trust, multiple mutual fund families, multiple employer stock funds, privately managed funds, GICs, and multiple transfer agencies including the NSCC eliminating daily breakage problems; transferred trade liability from Morgan Stanley to clients (as it should have been all along); improved reporting; and reduced reconciliation staff from 25 to 3.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have used PowerPoint for many years selling ideas/concepts to various management consulting, actuarial, accounting and financial services companies. The companies that have engaged me based on presentations prepared in PowerPoint speak to the expertise and effectiveness of presentations I prepared. Clients that have purchased my expertise due at least in part to the PowerPoint presentations that conveyed the message they liked include: The Devereux Foundation and Cardinal Health (Health Care); Wilson Technologies (Legal Practices); RR Donnelly and Smart Money Magazine (Publishing); CNG (Utilities); Strong Capital Management, Inc., Citistreet, Morgan Stanley, Scudder Kemper Investments, American Express Retirement Services, TIAA-CREF (Financial Services) Cianbro / AGC of America (Construction / Congressional Lobbying); Coopers & Lybrand, LLP (Accounting); Towers Perrin, Watson Wyatt, Mercer, Alexander & Alexander (Management Consulting and Actuarial).

I have been writing SQL since the mid-80s. I have used it for application development with DB2, Sybase, Oracle, Teradata, SQL Server, Informix, Microsoft Access and others to provide solutions for top consulting companies, large financial institutions, large healthcare providers, large manufacturing companies, not for profits, universities and small businesses.

Visual Basic

I have been an application developer for 30 years spending the last 15+ years coding in Visual Basic 6,, C Sharp, SQL Server, Oracle, Teradata and Access. My current assignment is with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) enhancing and supporting the Federal Thrift defined contribution plans. The environment is VB6, VB.Net and C The Federal Thrift plans cover in excess of 4.5 million participants.

Can't say enough good things about Bob's tutoring! — Our office contacted Bob after inheriting an Access database we barely understood. He is so knowledgeable, and after spending time with us to learn how and what it was used for, he put together some different plans to move forward. He was patient and encouraging in showing us how to make changes/additions and why things worked the way they did. Bob is so personable and easy to learn from, it rea ...
