Whether you are currently struggling with a course, or have an upcoming course that you would like to get a head start on, one-on-one tutoring can greatly improve positive development of your educational abilities by increasing mastery of critical skills, improving your overall academic performance, building self-confidence, and driving you to meet and exceed your academic goals. I have over fifteen years of tutoring experience--kindergarten through college--and over twenty years of experience working with children in both childcare and academic settings. I graduated from LSU in Shreveport in May of 2012 with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in English Literature. I served on the Board of Editors for SPECTRA and judged the regional debate tournament at LSU-S for three consecutive years while attending classes there. I enjoy literature for education and pleasure. I am a licensed Medical Transcriptionist, coached a five-to-six year old soccer through Bossier Parks and Recreation, am a trained, certified Science Fair judge through LSU-S; am a former CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for the Caddo Parish Juvenile Court, and am a former registered Caddo Parish substitute teacher. I also taught 8th Grade Enriched Math, Algebra, and ELA, as well as 4th grade Math and Science. I believe that communication skills are essential for students today--both written and verbal communication skills--and I strive to help every student I tutor to reach his/her goals in the most effective, efficient, and professional manner possible. Since relocating to central Arkansas in May of 2018, I have continued tutoring in the private sector, worked as a Care Coordinator and trainer for Summit Community Care, and served as a Direct Care Supervisor for Pathfinder, Inc. Consultations under one hour are complimentary (consultations lasting more than one hour will be billed at the current hourly rate). I look forward to meeting with you and your son/daughter so we can get started on the road to success today!

Common Core

I am familiar with and have taught CCSS (Common Core State Standards) for both 8th and 4th grades in Caddo Parish. I have also earned CEUs (Continuing Education Units) over the past four year for CCSS. As a fourth grade teacher, I even offered parent training to help parents better understand CCSS methods, allowing them to better assist their own children with homework and studying. Additionally, I have three children of my own who are currently enrolled in Caddo Schools and I work with them daily.

I have been a certified and registered substitute teacher for Bossier Parish which required me to pass an exam. I am currently a registered substitute teacher in Caddo Parish (my college credentials permit to substitute in any Caddo Parish school). I am a Psychology major at LSU in Shreveport and have completed courses in Child, Adolescent, and Lifespan Psychology. I have worked with ECE, elementary, and middle school students - through substitute teaching and private tutoring - since 2002.
Elementary Math,

Elementary Math

Mastery of basic math skills is essential for progression throughout school from start to finish. Math classes work like building blocks: a student must have a firm grasp on the mathematical concepts in the current grade to be prepared to understand and master the math skills which will be presented in subsequent grades. It is critical that any difficulties in mathematics be addressed and corrected sooner, rather than later. The higher the grade level for a student with math difficulties, the more difficult it is to catch up and get on track with classmates at the current grade level.

ACT English

If you are planning to attend a university after high school graduation, be aware that most, if not all universities, require a minimum score on the math portion of the ACT in order to enter into college algebra. If your ACT Math score doesn't meet the requirement, you will most likely have the option to take and pass an exam before entering into the regular college algebra course. If you are unable to pass this exam, you must first take an introductory or refresher course in math (pass/fail only, non-credit course) before you are allowed to enroll in college algebra. The same holds true for enrollment in basic English courses. For this reason, you will want to do as well as possible on these portions of the ACT to avoid having to pay for additional entry exams or lose valuable class time taking refresher courses.
