I have plenty of experience in teaching Spanish to various students of all levels, even though I am very young at the age of 25 years old. I am not a native speaker of Spanish even though I am Mexican. I could always understand the language but just couldn't speak it very well until I made it my career choice. I then focused my attention on it, not only the language but the culture behind it. This means from pre-conquest to modern civilization. I love to see the person's face light up when he/she is finally learning the language along with learning about the Latin American culture. My method of teaching or tutoring the language usually depends on how the student is best able to learn, because I know that people learn languages or information in their own ways.
I have both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Spanish, which not only focus on the language aspect but also the culture that surrounds the language itself in all the Spanish speaking countries in Latin America, Mexico and, of course, Spain. As an undergraduate, I became a member of the Spanish Club at the university and later became the president of the club itself. Under my presidency I coordinated events involving the community and the university, learning about all the hispanic heritage in the area. Currently I am also member of the Spanish Honor Society known as Sigma Delta Pi, Chapter Psi Omicron. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
