I am an English trained preschool and elementary school teacher/teaching assistant. Throughout my training in the UK I worked with children teaching them to read and also the phonics associated with reading.
I am a wife to Steven, and mother to Abi, George and Henry, so as a parent I know only too well the need for good literacy skills in the world. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I first began to teach reading when my own daughter was beginning to read. I further went to on to teach reading to children aged 4 to 8 whilst I was doing my Early Years Training in the UK, which is where I am originally from.
I have been teaching reading, and helping readers to understand words further for a number of years in a professional capacity as well as with my own daughter and 2 sons.
