Hello! My name is Pranay P. and my passion is Math, but I love science just as much. I am a currently an employee at Walmart as a Programmer and graduated with a Computer Science degree. I have taken Calculus 2 (MATH 20B), AP Calculus AB, AP Statistics, and AP Physics C: Mechanics in high school, passing with a score of 5 in all 3. I also took 5 other AP courses in high school, and got a mixture of 4s and 5s on all of them. My main strength is Math, but I am proficient in science, mainly in chemistry and physics, and passed with an A+ last quarter in the first chemistry course in a 3-course chemistry sequence all math and science majors are required to take.
I have four years of experience tutoring kids in all sorts of subjects, since I used to volunteer for service hours in High School. I really like tutoring, and am patient with people who take longer to understand certain concepts, and I value through understanding over memorization and short cuts. I have worked with elementary school kids all the way up to high school, and get along fine with most students. I do not give out answers, but will help the student think of ways they can approach the correct answer. I help students find answers in the problem, and stress analyzing the information given in the problem over memorized formulas or techniques seen in the classroom, and explain to them why a certain method/equation works or doesn't work. I go step-by-step over every process required to obtain the correct answer, and make sure to check for understanding so the student can get that type of question right no matter how it's re-written. My goal is to make sure the student be knowledgeable enough to ace any test their teacher throws at them, since it is all a matter of how familiar and comfortable you are with the material, which is why I also stress practicing similar problems until the student shows confidence mastery.
I'll work hard to help all students who want to succeed, and I promise I won't let you down! Hello! My name is Pranay P. and my passion is Math, but I love science just as much. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took AP Calculus AB my Junior year in High School and passed with a 5, and have completed MATH 20B for Science and Engineering Majors at UCSD last quarter (this is like AP Calc BC, plus a little more).
