I am a recent graduate from UALR with a degree in English Literature, minor in Professional and Technical Writing.
I am currently working part-time for Junior Achievement, a Non-Profit that encourages and prepares students to own their economic success. I have taught several of the Junior Achievement courses to grades 6-12. Through working at Junior Achievement my love for education has grown and I want to gain more experience as I begin to to the necessary steps to become an English Teacher.
I have studied English Literature for several years through the English department at UALR. Additionally, I volunteered my time at the English department to tutor Freshmen students through their Composition courses.
English and History truly go hand in hand with one another as it is very important to understand the era in which you are reading Literature. Several authors will discuss a war, political affair, slavery, etc. and knowing more than their accounts within the novel allow for a complete understanding so I have taken several history courses as well researched on my own.
I am excited to help students learn more about English whether it is through comprehension of poetry, Old English through Modern English prose, etc. as well as work through common grammatical mistakes and improve overall writing skills. I find History fascinating and have several sources available to me that will help bring the readings to life a little better so that it doesn't seem so boring to those who are not as interested as myself. Learning can be fun! I am a recent graduate from UALR with a degree in English Literature, minor in Professional and Technical Writing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
