Hi! My name is Tara V. I am 22 years old and just graduated from Middle Tennessee State University. I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a current Tennessee teaching license.
Throughout college I have gained experience in teaching and working with children from birth to grade three. I have completed infant/toddler, preschool, and primary grade practicum courses, in which I planned and implemented lessons for a diverse group of students. I have also worked in several public school classrooms in Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City. In these classrooms I have taught whole group and small group lessons as well as worked with individual students that were struggling in certain subject areas.
In high school, I spent four years as a volunteer tutor for a non-profit organization on Cool Springs,TN. I worked with one to two students, strengthening areas in need. I also loved reading with these students to help expand their vocabulary and reading comprehension. I have also spent the last two summers doing private tutoring in middle school math (algebra and geometry). For a course in college, I spent one hour a week tutoring a second grade student in math.
When teaching or tutoring, I understand that each student learns in a different way. I always try to use new develop in my field of study to lead my instruction and differentiate activities to tailor to each individual student's learning style. I believe hands-on activities and manipulatives are very important tools to use. And I also believe that relating subjects and topics to real-life helps motivate students when learning.
I love teaching and helping students grow academically! I am a hard worker and never give up on a student. Seeing success can be both rewarding for the tutor and the child and I strive to make sure each child I work with is able to see that they can have success! Hi! My name is Tara V. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
