About Tasha

I am a highly qualified & certified professional teacher, with a Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education. I have tutored students from Kindergarten to College-Freshman Level. I currently tutor various aged students privately on a weekly basis. I start where my student is, and gauge learning and teaching from that point.

I have been in the field of education for almost a decade. With multiple years of varying experience in professional teaching, substitute teaching, tutoring, and student teaching, I have had experience helping a variety of students and have taught various grades from Pre-K to 7th grade. I have also had private tutoring sessions with students from Kindergarten to College Age, in Literacy Enrichment.

I am a strong believer that all students learn at different levels and paces, and we must be willing to meet them where they are. I also believe that all students are capable of reading and acquiring and mastering information and academic content. With the right support and enough personal attention ,to encourage individual success, students can and will be successful. I get joy knowing that my students have found a new confidence to keep trying and pushing through seemingly difficult content.

Language , which is made up of reading, writing, vocabulary, and various content is the foundation of each subject. Students have to learn this foundation to be successful across all subjects.

I have tutored elementary students during my teaching career in varying capacities, and have helped various students achieve individual success.

I currently work as a Pre-K teacher and have expertise in helping students with the foundations of reading. Continued exposure to phonics, sight words, familiar text, and access to various reading materials help to cultivate a life long reader.

I look forward to helping your child on the path to gaining confidence and independence on their learning journey. Contact me today to set up a private lesson to start your child on their personal journey!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am a highly qualified/certified teacher with a Masters in Early Childhood Education. In my role as a Behavioral Instructor, I have worked with students in a Mental and Behavioral Hospital in a residential treatment center , who were diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and other disorders. I have also worked with students with ADD/ADHD in my classrooms over the last decade of me helping students in an educational atmosphere. I have created personal behavioral plans and goals for these students to help them to reach certain academic and behavioral goals.

Common Core

I am a highly qualified teacher, with a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching for 5 years as a professional teacher. I have used the common core standards to teach for at least 4 years. I have to provide common core standards for all activities that I am doing.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am a highly qualified & Certified teacher, with a Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education. I have tutored students from Kindergarten to Freshman- College. I currently have a middle school student that I tutor privately on a weekly basis. I start where my student is, and gauge learning and teaching from that point.

Elementary Math

I am a certified professional teacher. I have experience with Math Workshop and Common Core Math. I have about 4 plus years with the Common Core Curriculum, and focus on student exploration, mental math, and problem solving to help students to truly understand Math concepts.

Elementary Science

I am a highly qualified and certified teacher. I have taught elementary science to my students and helped them with various concepts of science, experimentation, and inquiry.

Phonics

I am currently a Pre-K 4 teacher. My students are ages 4 & 5. We work with the foundations of appropriate language learning. Among other concepts, phonics is one of the main criteria I introduce to my students. I am qualified to work with, and have tutored various students in various elements of phonics.

Reading

It is important for me to start where children are. Reading can be difficult for some students, and a point of frustration. The key is finding reading material that is interesting and at the student's level. There will be no improvement, starting a child above their comfort level. When they have interesting text that they can read, it helps build their confidence, along with fluency and vocabulary. Students need exposure to a variety of reading content. With continuous practice and organized activities to improve reading, all students can progress and make wonderful strides toward being a life-long reader.

Study Skills

I have over a decade of experience in the educational field, that includes professional teaching, tutoring, and student teaching. I have tutored students from K- Freshmen College Level on various subjects. I have helped students that have directly worked with me with organizational skills, study skills, reading strategies, and tips for effective writing. These skills are vital, in helping my students to be able to succeed across the board.

Writing

I am a highly qualified and certified teacher in Early Childhood Education. I have worked with students on the elementary, intermediate, and collegiate levels. I can help students with various styles of writing and organization & structure.
