University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) (Biology)
I have experience with most of the Cabrillo College teachers and their methods, test styles, and other advantages I can pass on to students. I've successfully tutored four students through a Chem 1B course. I'm currently attending UCSC and have done well almost every biology and chemistry course given at Cabrillo College. I plan on attending medical school, so I have taken the anatomy and physiology courses offered at Cabrillo for the allied health programs. I've been a teaching assistant in the anatomy lab as well, where I discovered that I love teaching and helping students succeed in their academic goals. I have been a successful tutor through WyzAnt for one year now.

David has been a wonderful tutor!! He has been very easy to get ahold of, and was very flexible with the times he could meet with me. He has helped me in chemistry soo much. I now have a better understanding of the course and it's all thanks to him. He was very patient and didn't mind explaining things a second and even third time for me. This is the first time I have ever gotten a tutor, and I'm very pleased that I did and that it was with David. He is a GREAT tutor!!!!
Awesome tutor! Helped me pass chem and calc and really patient. Always has flexible hours and always wants to help.
We have had David tutor our daughter for Bio Honors on three occasions now and will continue to hire him in the future. He is very responsive, knowledgeable and focused. He uses great examples and analogies to help the student understand concepts. His reviews of the material before tests have greatly helped our daughter in her preparation and given her increased confidence going in the exam. I highly recommend David!
David was very helpful. He cleared up a lot of chemistry concepts that I was having difficulty understanding. He was patient, friendly, and very supportive with my learning process.
The minute David left my son yelled "I totally get it!" David was instrumental at explaining chemistry to my son! Very positive gentleman! I hope to have him help us a weekly basis until the end of the school year!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I took the ACT prior to graduating from high school. I scored a 32 on the exam and a perfect on the science reasoning portion of the exam. I have a very thorough science background in the my continuing education through college.
I took the course presented at Cabrillo College. I not only did very well in the course but I was also asked to be a TA for the next three years due to my knowledge of the subject.
I've taken every biology class that Cabrillo College offers, and have been a teaching assistant for several professors in both anatomy and physiology. I plan to get my bachelor's in Cell and Molecular Biology.
I've taken the course at Cabrillo College. It had both lecture and lab components as well as field trips to view plants and fungi in the wild. I passed the class taught by Nicole Crane with a high B.
I've taken 4 years of college level chemistry, dealing with inorganic, organic and physical. I graduated from UCSC one class short of a double major in chemistry. My organic chemistry course was taught by an instructor that is well known for his skill in the subject, students attending other universities often choose to come to Cabrillo to take the course. I love chemistry almost as much as I do biology and as my students could tell you I'm very passionate about the topic.
I've taken the course on genetics at UCSC. It covered introductory genetics from Mendel, cell division, chromosomal replication and diseases that can result from improper splitting. The course also covered mouse knockouts and model organisms.
I've taken the MCAT as a prospective medical student. I scored a 36 on the exam and I have a thorough background in all the sciences that are presented on the test.
I've taken a very thorough, year-long course taught at Cabrillo College. My class was taught not from a memorization perspective but from a mechanistic approach so you understand what is going on and why, and not just the end result. I've also continued my education into the subject with upper level courses at UCSC.
I've taken a course that focused the lecture component on physiology, development, and behavior of the differing species of animals from protozoa to large mammals. The lab component focused on the grouping of animals by clades and the identification of features that group them into clades. The lab part also covered the same spread of organisms, from protozoa, to the first chordates, up to large mammals.
