About Anissa

I have taught college writing since 2007. I began teaching at Ouachita Tech and then stayed at home for a while to work as an online blogger in a booming internet social media market.

I still teach writing at the community college level. I have been teaching college since 2012 in Little Rock. A few of my students have been published in our college's academic journal. Others have joined honor societies.

I also am a literary consultant in Hot Springs for SpeakLoudly! Readers and Writers. The organization has been around since 1999 and has demonstrated a committment to helping young people achieve a love of reading. SpeakLoudly operates in Chicago and Arkansas and hosts poetry and vision board seminars for young readers across the nation.

I have two degrees in literature. I have been writing about higher education in Arkansas since 2010. I published articles and photographs for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette and the Tri-Lakes edition back in the late 90s until 2005, and then took up academic writing in graduate studies at HSU.

I am an roaming educator of sorts. I substitute in public schools in Garland and Hot Spring Counties when I can. I have found success with young people with poetry. I have enjoyed many writing successes with college students, including improving student compass scores via writing assignments. I look forward to helping you or your student achieve writing success, particularly in my hometown Malvern area.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
