Hey there! I am a small-town American woman who lived in big-city China for four years to teach university English. I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Christian Studies. My professors' dedication to student growth inside and outside of the classroom and their willingness to pour into their students "off the clock" inspired me to teach. I seek to pour into my students as they poured into me.

In university, I volunteered several hours every week to tutor international students. I promptly moved to China after graduation to teach English as a Foreign Language. I taught Oral English and English Short Stories. I had nine classes a week of 30-50 students each. Despite so many, I assigned graded homework and quizzes to reinforce lesson content and provide extra practice.

Having studied Greek for three years with the Grammar-Translation Method and Mandarin for four years in-country with the Immersive Method, I understand the difficulty of learning a second and third language. The goal of language learning is to communicate. This requires balanced practice in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. My teaching, therefore, primarily focuses on the Communicative Method. Every student has unique needs and a unique way to learn. Thus, I will personalize lessons, topics, and coursework to each individual. Whatever it takes to help you grow!

I have a 120-hour TEFL certification through Bridge Education Group (includes a 40-hour Grammar Advisor certification) and a Bachelor of Arts degree. I have been teaching and tutoring various topics in-person, cross-culturally, and online for a total of 15 years.
