I LOVE MATH! As an elementary school teacher, teaching math has always been the part of my day I most looked forward to. My students also looked forward to math time. This enthusiasm resulted in growth for my students. In the Winter 2015 session of NWEA MAP, 58% of my students met or exceeded

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I have successfully taught grades 2 and 3 for the last three years. I have also passed Praxis I Core Assessments as well as Praxis II subject assessments for Early Childhood Education and Middle School Math and Science. Each year I've taught at least 50% of my students met or exceeded their growth goals on NWEA MAP Assessment.

My students had the highest growth percentage on the Winter 2015 NWEA MAP assessment. I am experienced in teaching Direct Instruction Math as well as Common Core Standards based Math. My lessons are designed meet students at their academic level and quickly propel them forward, resulting in students becoming more confident and accepting of challenges.

As a second and third grade teacher, I encountered several students who were unable to write legibly. For some students there were issues of letter recognition. For others, it was an issue of not knowing how to correctly form letters, numbers, or hold a writing utensil.

I taught these students how to write letters via modeling, tracing practice, and word/passage copying. Those with letter recognition issues recieved this same help, but were also taught letter and number recognition.

As an elementary teacher, I not only taught grade-level literacy, I also taught students who were 1 to 3 years behind grade-level in literacy.

Some of the methods employed to teach literacy are Direct Instruction, vocabulary, and phonics.
