I am a Counseling Major with a Concentration in Education. My fields of focus were history and English. I spent 2 years tutoring a boy with autism assisting him in life skills, memorization, and grasping new concepts. I have tutored middle school students in Spanish, English, and drama. I have substitute taught on a consistent basis for math, computer, drama, and biology teachers, teaching their material in their place. I served as the Assistant to the Youth Pastor for two years where I designed curriculum for students ages 12-18. I currently serve as the director of Children's Ministry serving children ages birth-12. I am responsible for curriculum selection, and classroom management as well as teacher training. My education in counseling coupled with my experience in curriculum development, hands-on teaching, special needs assisting, and substitute teaching in a wide range of subject matter has prepared me to assist students on their level and at their speed. Your child is your greatest treasure and it is my intention to treat them as such while challenging them to be their very best. Children learn best when they are enjoying what they are doing and it is my goal to bring that to your child as you see fit.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
My degree is in counseling covering a wide spectrum of mental disorders and disabilities. This coupled with the education portion of my degree exposed me to many different learning disabilities including autism. I tutored an autistic boy for 2 years, assisting him with many different skill sets.
I served as the 9th grade girl Sunday School teacher for 3 years, where I was responsible for curriculum and leader development as well as preparing weekly lessons. My degree program contained over 20 hours in Biblical studies. During college I was chosen by faculty to lead a group of my peers in a weekly Bible study.
I took art classes through out my entire high school career. After high school one of my part time jobs required regular artwork for displays. I was selected by my manager to be in charge of creating weekly drawings for these displays. I also had a large part in drawing and designing sets for multiple dramatic performances.
I have over 15 hours of education credits through my degree program. Coupled with my counseling courses I took many classes on various disabilities. I have worked with deaf and hard of hearing my whole life through my local church.
I tested out of all required computer college courses required by my degree program. I took additional courses in Microsoft Word in order to increase proficiency. I use Microsoft Word on a daily basis in my work as a secretary.
I have been a reading aide to elementary children for years. I have an extensive background and education in English & Grammar.
I substitute taught for 2 years. I have been a drama and performance coach, in an academic setting, for 3 years with many students winning state competitions. I speak and teach on a regular basis in the church setting.
My family was actively involved in my church's deaf ministry, so I grew up signing on a regular basis. I married into a deaf family so I practice ASL on a regular basis. When I was regularly substitute teaching I would sub for the ASL class on a monthly basis.
My degree in Counseling and concentration in education has equipped me with extensive knowledge on special needs students and how to best help them. I have tutored students with ADD, ADHD, autism, and other emotional and learning disabilities. Through my counseling practicum I have helped students with a wide range of emotional issues manage daily life tasks and function in society.
I have been a tutor and learning coach for the past 6 years. It was my responsibility as a volunteer and as an employee to ensure that students learned the material and were able to use it in classroom and real life situations. I have also substitute taught for extended periods of time in which I was responsible for helping students prepare for their midterm and final exams.
I have coached multiple students in individual, duet, group, choral speaking, and interpretative reading. All of my students won state titles in at least one area of the competition. I have directed 3 plays and volunteered and performed in many others.
