In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to tutor in algebra 1. I actually spent a summer in college teaching a summer algebra 1 course to 8th grade students. I spent extra one on one time with the students who were struggling with the course as well.
Finite mathematics and very similar to what what high schools in Arkansas call Algebra III or College Algebra. I have tutored several students in both college algebra and algebra III. All of the students that I have tutored in these subjects have been successful in raising their grades and most were either A or B students by the end of the semester.
In addition, I have done a ton of calculus tutoring which is essentially just a step up from finite mathematics.
